Our training is centred around the safe use of hoist, slide sheets, wheelchairs and other daily routine equipment used by the carers. The course is a full days training packed with theory and practical exercises. But we don’t just talk training, we inspire it, says Company Director Sue Allum.
SAA trainers are a passionate, selected group of people committed to changing the way service users assist with people with learning disabilities. Mencap is the leading voice of learning disability and everything they do is about valuing and supporting people with a learning disability, and their families and carers and SAA mirrors their philosophy.
This year SAA again sponsored Mencaps, ‘You’ve got Talent’ event with the winner receiving a state of the art, iPad donated by SAA.
September brings about our Mencap Trainers Team annual conference which is scheduled to run in Manchester this year. This event enables all our trainers to get together to discuss their highlights and occasional lows. Vicky Chatterton Lead Trainer on the Mencap project for training delivery in First Aid and People Moving and Handling for Mencap will be taking the team through recent updates and new training techniques as part of SAA continuous improvement and quality assurance for ISO9001.
At SAA we believe that all people are valued equally, listened to and included.
